About
Professionally communicating ideas through typography, photography and computer generated images, BenvenutiCreative has over ten years experience in Communication Design. Derek Benvenuti, Founder & Principal Designer, begins the creative process with a pencil and sketchpad, a practice embedded in his work during his years at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Communication Design, Derek has excelled in an array of work environments, from a small, independent print shop to a large advertising agency and everywhere else in-between.
A print designer at heart, Derek also has experience in web design and social media as well as a passion for time-based media. In exploring the creative process, BenvenutiCreative has developed a strong belief that communicating ideas for design and visually communicating that message to convey the client’s objective is not an option, but a necessity.
Derek’s design experience branches outside of the fifty states, where he spent two years working as an Art Director and Studio Designer for renowned hotels and restaurant venues abroad in Sydney, Australia.
Grateful to be surrounded by a talented, close-knit group of writers, photographers, architects, musicians, programmers, event directors and web/print designers, he finds inspiration easy to come by.

After pursuing a short career in music and graduating with an Associates Degree in Graphic Design, Derek continued his education at The College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, from where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Communication Design. While attending college, Derek worked as a graphic designer for an independent print shop, which provided an early start at learning real-world business aspects of design.
